Thompson died at noon, Oct. 8th. Age 81 years 7 months. Mrs. Thompson whose maiden name was Whipple was born in New York State and come with her parents to Michigan at the age of eleven. Her parents located in Ionia being among the first settlers, her surviving family consists of one brother Mr. John Whipple of Easton and four daughters Mrs. Geo. Stebbins of Easton, Mrs. C. H. Fristoe of Kansas City Mo., Mrs. A. L. Spencer and Mrs. E. C. Loyd of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson came to this city from their farm in Easton about twenty- seven years ago and bought the home where they both passed the remaining years of their lives. Mr. Sylvester Thompson, who will be remembered by many of our citizens and many of the citizens of Ionia and vicinity, passed away fourteen years ago the present fall. Mrs. Thompson had been in declining health for nearly a year, but for most of the time to within a few hours of the end was able to keep up part of the time and retained full her mental faculties, always keeping in touch with the current events of the time. A good woman has gone to her well earned rest. The funeral service will be held at her late home Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock, the Rev. N. J. Myers, pastor of the First Congregational church, officiating. Burial at Riverside cemetery.
