Tomlinson, 41, died suddenly Sunday morning at his home at 737 Cyrus. He was born June 24, 1927 in Elwell, the son of Harold and Mildred Cain Tomlinson. He attended the SS Peter and Paul academy and also Ionia public school. He was married February 20, 1954 at SS Peter and Paul church to Elinore Tombs and has lived at his present address the past 13 years. For the past five years he was employed at Shalow Motors Inc in Portland. Prior to that he worked at Tony's Crystal Flash in Ionia. He was a member of Temple Baptist church and Grand Valley Boy Scout council and was also Scoutmaster of Orleans troop 181. A veteran of World War II he also fought in the Korean campaign with the navy. Surviving are his wife Elinore; two stepsons, James Tombs of Wyoming and Gerald Tombs of Akron, Ohio; four grandchildren mother, Mrs. Mildred Tomlinson; two brothers, Keith of Owosso and Kenneth of Ionia; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Raymond of Belding and Mrs. Mary DeGraw of Lafayette, La. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 pm at Myers funeral home with Rev. Marvis Hale of Temple Baptist church officiating. Interment will be at Balcom cemetery. A memorial has been established for Temple Baptist church.
