Towersey, 46, of Stedman Road, rural Ionia, suffered a heart attack at his residence early Saturday afternoon and was pronounced dead on arrival at Ionia County Memorial Hospital. Born in Alma Dec.11, 1938, he was the son of Sidney and Maggie Sanders Towersey. He attended Hubbell rural school, Palo School, and was graduated from Ionia High School in the class of 1957. He entered the U.S. Army in 1957 and served with the First Airborne Battle Group as a paratrooper. He was separated from service in 1959. He was married to Mary Ann Beyer Oct. 15, 1960, in St. Joseph church, Belding. They made their home in Orleans before moving to Ronald Township. He was employed by Belding Products Inc. and a member of the Ionia Moose Lodge. Surviving are his wife; one son, Russell, and one daughter, Staci, both at home; three brothers, Gerald and Sidney of Ionia and James of Orleans; three sisters, Dorothy Towersey of Ionia, Mrs. Harvey (Gertrude) Heppe, of Orleans, and Shelby Towersey of Northfield, Ohio.
