                        Dr.George Vander Mark, DC

Dr. George Vander Mark, DC, 86 of Belding, entered the grace of his Lord 
Wednesday evening, April 16, 2008 at home under the loving care of his family 
and Spectrum Health Hospice.

George was born on Oct. 25, 1921 in Grand Rapids, a son of John and Cornelis 
Pansier Vander Mark, who immigrated from Gelderland, Holland. Following 
graduation, George proudly served his country in the United States Army during 
World War II seeing action in Italy and later in France. After the war George 
graduated from Ferris State College, Purdue  University and from Lincoln 
National Chiropractic College in Indianapolis,Ind. For many years he had a large 
practice in Belding and Greenville, where he incorporated many pioneering 
application of chiropractic medicine to further enhance his patients' health. To 
his many patients he was knows as "Gentle George".

He was a member of the National Chiropractic Association, the Michigan 
Chiropractic Association, a past member of the Ionia Elks Lodge, The American 
Legion of Belding, past secretary of the Belding Rotary, a 48-year member of the 
East Riverside Park Association and a member of the First Congregation Church of 
Greenville. George was a good man and and Gwen always said; "George is perfect". 
He will be greatly missed by his family, patients and many friends,He was 
married on April 29, 1948 in Grand Rapids to Gwen Porter.

George is survived by is wife off nearly 60 years, Gwen; their son and daughter-
in-law,Greg and Valerie Vander Mark of Greenville. George is also survived by 
his grandchildren, Christine Cross, Paul Schulz, Evan Schulz, Jeremiah Vander- 
Mark and Leah Vander Mark.

He was preceded by his parent and all of his brothers and 
sisters,Neil,Christine, William, John, Frank, Gerritt, Harry and Nellie.

Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the First Congregation Church, 
Greenville with Pastor Jerrold T.Jones officiating.Interment will follow at 4 
p.m at Rockford Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 at Johnson-
Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding and one hour before the service at the church. 
Memorial Contributions may be given to Spectrum Health Hospice Foundation or the 
first Congregational Church of Greenville. Condolence may also be given to the
