Farmer Passes Away Friday - FUNERAL HELD ON MONDAY MORNING - Tetanus Developed
After Loss of Two Fingers In Buzz Saw Mishap February 18 - Joseph Wacha, 55,
well known resident of Orleans township passed away at St. Mary's hospital at
Grand Rapids last Friday night as the result of injuries sustained in a buzz-saw
mishap on his farm on February 18, when two fingers were severed.  Tetanus
developed and on March 4 he was taken to the hospital where his condition grew
critical as his entire system was affected by the poison.
   He was the father of eight children, with seven of them living at home on the
100-acre farm he had operated for more than 25 years.
   The funeral was held from SS. Peter & Paul church on Monday morning in charge
of Rev. Fr. Hugh D. McCarthy and interment was made in Mt. Olivet cemetery.
   He was born at Ypsilanti and when a young man settled at Kiddville near
Belding where he remained a short time before moving to Orleans township.  He
had been married for 32 years.
   He is survived by his widow and eight children, Sister Mathews, 30, Sacred
Heart Academy of Saginaw; John, 26; Thomas, 25; Alice, 19; Joseph, 17; Hugh, 15;
Geraldine, 9 and Lawrence, 6; three brothers, William Wacha of Stanton; John
Wacha of Belding; Frank Wacha, New Duluth, Minn.; one sister, Mrs. Mary Walker,
Cleveland, Ohio."
