The Ionia County News, Thursday, November 7, 1946

Mrs. Anna Ward, King St., died at 3:45 Saturday afternoon, Nov. 2, of a heart 
attack following five weeks serious illness.

Anna Shannon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Shannon, was born in Canada, 
March 15, 1872, and came to Michigan and Ionia county when she was a small 
child.  The family settled in Easton township and in October, 1889, Anna was 
married to William S. Ward.  Mr. Ward died Nov. 22, 1931, and four years ago 
Mrs. Ward came to Ionia to live.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Harvey Gustafson, Ionia, and Mrs. Bernice 
Erdmann, Milwaukee, Wisc., and a son, Hiram, of Mason, Mich.  Also five 
grandchildren.

Rev. Dwight M. Kitch officiated at the funeral service held Tuesday afternoon 
from Boynton Funeral Home.  Burial was in Easton cemetery.  Pall bearers were 
Ray Peterson, Gus Gott, Rufus Rasmussen and Stahlin Shannon.  Flowers were in 
charge of Mrs. J. G. Fleckenstein and Mrs. V. J. Nielsen.
