Edith Fay Wells, 86, of Lansing, a former Ionia resident, died Wednesday.  She
was born Dec. 26, 1897, in Ionia, the daughter of Frank L. Welch and Catherine
McCord Welch.

She was married first to James W. Cushing; he preceded her in death.  She was
married second to Edmond Wells, who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by one son, James D. Cushing of DeWitt; three grandchildren; and
one great granddaughter.  Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Harold (Lois)
Gates of Saranac and Mrs. Harold (Mildred) Keith of Lincoln Park.  Three
brothers, Charles, John and William Welch, and two sisters, Hazel Deline and
Nancy Taylor, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Home,
900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing.  Burial will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Easton
Cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home Thursday and Friday from 7 to
9 p.m.
