Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 10 Apr 1956

John Windiate, 73, of Smyrna, died Sunday morning in the Belding city hospital.
 He was born in Pontiac March 18, 1883 and until his retirement in 1946 had been
a farmer.  He had made his home with his son George of Smyrna for several years
since his retirement.  In 1920 he was married to Mary Eagan of Pontiac.  She
died in 1933.  Mr. Windiate was a member of the Pontiac Methodist church.

Surviving besides his son are two daughters, Mrs. Wesley Warden of Jackson and
Mrs. Howard Swathout of Holly.  There are seven grandchildren.

Funeral services are to be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Ellis funeral
chapel at Belding with Rev. H.S. Ellis officiating.  Burial will be at Smyrna
cemetery.
