Wizorek Lawrence A. Wizorek, of Ionia, age 74, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2008. He was born on Oct 5, 1933 in Ionia the son of Frank and Zeta (Cunningham) Wizorek. Mr. Wizorek was a Veteran of the United Stares Army serving in the Korea Conflict and retired from Riverside Correctional Facility in 1989 after 33 1/2 years of service. He was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was active in Little League baseball, boy scouts and the Ionia Knights of Columbus Council #944. He was a 4th Degree member of the Bishop Edward D.Kelly Assembly. He loved bowling and golf, but especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Nancy of Ionia; 6 children, Andrew(Diane) Wizorek of Stanton, Elizabeth Wizorek of Lansing, Phillip (Sue) Wizorek of Ionia, Mary (Allen) Coble of Ionia, Theresa (Neil) MacIntyre of Syracuse, N.Y. and Christine (Jake) Rigdon of Ionia; 13 grandchildren,Tim, Becca, Allen, Melissa,Kimberly, Samantha, Christopher, Chelsey, Chelsea,Abigail, Chase,David and Kristi; 4 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Trenton, Sylar and Ryan-and one on the way; mother-in-law, Anna Whittington; brothers and sisters-in-law, Mary (Jose) Villela of California, Barbara (Jim) Burrell of Saranac, Joseph (Brenda) Lemke of Lyons and Judy Lemke of Muir and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Andrew Wizorek and brother-in-law Lou Lemke. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev.Melvin Fox, Pastor at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2008 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Rite of Committal following at Mt.Olivet Cemetery.Military Honors will be provided by the Portland VFW Post #4090. The family will receive friends at the Schrauben- Lehman Funeral Home, 220 Rich St., Ionia from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service time at the church. A rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. on Wednesday. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney foundation in memory of Lawrence A. Wizorek.
