MRS. EMILY MAC LEOD DIES IN HER SLEEP

  Mrs. Emily Godwell MacLeod died in her sleep Wednesday night, Jan. 14,
at the home of her daughter Mrs. Ray Trucks in Baldwin. She was a month
short of her 88th birthday.

  Mrs. MacLeod had been ill the past two years, thought able to be about
at times. Her death was not unexpected and it was a relief to her family
that it was peaceful and without pain.

  Mrs. MacLeod was born in Canada Feb. 19, 1860 and became the wife of
Norman MacLeod who preceded her in death May 16, 1927. They lived in 
Wolverine prior to coming to Baldwin in 1920, where their son purchased 
the Kennedy Garage later to occupy the present roomy Ford garage and 
salesrooms.

  She is survived by three daughters, Nellie, Mrs. J. M. Haworth of
Spokane, Wash; Florence, wife of Dr. U. P. O’Connor of Bellingham, Wash.;
and Lerene, wife of Ray Trucks of Baldwin; one son, Angus E. of Baldwin; 
two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Gallagher of Wolverine, Mich.; Nettie Waterbury
of Chicago; two brothers, Will Smith of Wolverine and Chauncey of Lapeer;
also 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

  Funeral services were held in the Trucks home Saturday afternoon at two
o’clock, the Rev. Duncan M. Olmstead officiating. Burial was in Pleasant
Plains cemetery beside her husband.
