Herrick District Library, Obituaries (1940 - 2003) Holland, Michigan
John W. Broekhuis, 91, of Oakland, died Monday, July 4, 1994 at Zeeland 
Community Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Tena, in 1988; and a daughter, Arlene 
Zoet in 1973.
He was a member of the Oakland Christian Reformed Church, and was a former 
deacon, elder, Sunday-school teacher, and custodian. 
Surviving are his children, Harriet and Jerald Sternberg of Graafschap, Doris 
Broekhuis of Oakland, Jay and Esther Broekhuis of Graafschap, Hazel and Roger 
Timmer of Overisel, Ted Broekhuis of San Jose, CA; and Elaine and Don De 
Weerdt of Overisel; a son-in-law, Roger and June Zoet of Overisel; 25 
grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Albert Broekhuis of 
Overisel and Arthur Broekhuis of Otsego; two sisters Angeline Jurries of 
Bentheim and Esther and John Steenwyk of Overisel; four sisters-in-law, Mrs. 
Gerrit (Ida) Broekhuis of Zeeland, Mrs. John (Ida) Mast and Mrs. Joe (Myrtle) 
Mast of Zeeland, and Mrs. George (Florence) Engelsman of Oakland. 
Services will be Thursday at the Oakland Christina Reformed Church with the 
Rev. Bernard F. Tol officiating. Burial will be in Bentheim Cemetery.
