Arenac County Independent, Thursday Nov. 30, 1916 Transcriber, date unknown Contributor Matt Larive Old resident dies James Beachem, age 76 yrs, died Sunday morning at the home of his eldest daughter Mrs John Maidment in Deep River. He was well known throughout the county. Mr. Beachem was born Aug. 28, 1840 in Townsend township, Ontario, where he lived until married in 1863, then moving to St. Clair. In 1871 he moved to Deep River where he has since resided. In the spring of 1865 he enlisted in the Civil War and served until its close. At the time of his death he was drawing a pension of $21 a month. Father of 13 children, 9 survive. Funeral on Wed. followed by services at M.E. Church Rev. L. C. Humes. Burial in Sterling Cem.
