Transcriber, date unknown Contributor unknown Dennis Cabay, Saganing Indian, Died Thursday. Dennis Cabay, Sagaing Indian, passed away at his residence last Thursday morning at 3:50. He was born in Standish Township Janurary 8, 1885. Surviving members of his family re his wife Mamie and one son at home, Lawrence. Three sisters also survive. They are Mrs. Sarah Shyeagbe, California; Mrs. Hattie Cady, Saginaw; Mrs. Josephine Daukant, Detroit. Funeral services were held from the Sagining Indian Church at 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon with Rev. C.B. Turbin of Pinconning officiating. Burial was in the Indian Church cemetery. Arenac County Independent Wednesday, January 6, 1954 (p.2) Dies in Fire Destroying Home The Sterling fire department was called to the home of Mr. Husak living east of Sterling at 12:00 o'clock Saturday night. Some one driving by saw the fire and turned in the alarm. The fire had gained such headway when the fire truck arrived it was impossible to save the house or contents, but the brave firemen fought their way into the burning building and brought Mr. Husak out, but he had passed away before help came. The sheriff was called and the remains were taken to the Savage Funeral Home in Standish. Submitter's note: Theodore Husak was born 15 October 1866 in Ukraine. His property, which included the house in which he died, was the SE corner of Grove & Sterling Road in Deep River township. He is buried in the Polish Catholic National Cemetery.
