Barry County was named after William Barry, Postmaster General, who was appointed by President Andrew Jackson and served from 1829-1935.

The photo on the left is a vintage postcard depicting the Main Street Bridge over the Thornapple River. in Middleville, Michigan, around 1910. The building on the left has "Cash For Wheat" painted on its side. The postcard was published by The Armstrong Drug Co.
