According
to Wikipedia: “The Volga Germans …
were
ethnic
Germans
living
along the
River
Volga
in
the region of southeastern
European
Russia
around
Saratov
and to the south.
Recruited as immigrants to Russia in the 18th century, they were
allowed to maintain their German culture, language, traditions, and
churches (Lutheran, Reformed, Catholics, and
Mennonites).
In the 19th and early 20th centuries, many Volga Germans emigrated to
the Dakotas and other states in the western United States, as well as
to Canada and South America (mainly Argentina and Brazil).” Some of
these “Volga Germans” came to live in Berrien County, Michigan.
One of these families was named Busick. The records indicate they
were born in “Gougas” Russia which has been found to be the Volga
German colony of Kukkus, Samara, Russia. There is a website by
Richard Felsing: kukkus.com I utilized this website to obtain records
of this Berrien County Busick family in Russia as well as records

these records this surname is also spelled sometimes as Busik,
Boosick, Bosick and Buseck.
Here in Berrien County you can find in the records of George and Henry Busick who were brothers.
