Notes:  In Berrien County, Michigan, James Hinish son of David and Elizabeth Hinish died on 26 February 1871.  Mary E. Hinish married Henry Andrew Feather on 7 October 1880 and had a son Milton H. Feather.  Anna Jane Hinish was born to David and Elizabeth Hinish on 22 August 1867.  David B. Hinish died in Oronoko Towship on 28 June 1881 and his parents are given as John and Mary Hinish.  On 21 Nov 1887 Mrs. Elizabeth Hinish married Louis Grabfelter.  This was her 2nd marriage. Anna J. Hinish was born in Berrien Springs August 27, 1867 and died July 12, 1925 in Greeley, KS. Anna married William Anderson Fox in Chicago, Illinois on 29 Apr 1891.  Their grandson Howard Fox donated the book of remembrances displayed on our website.

 

The Berrien Springs Journal Era carried a death notice for Ann (Hinish) Fox on 16 Jul 1925 and it reads:  “Word from Howard Fox who was called to his home in Greeley, Kan., two weeks ago on account of the illness of his mother, states that his mother passed away, Tuesday morning.  Mrs. Fox will be remembered as Miss Anna Hinish, and a resident of this place for many years.”

 

It appears from cemetery records found that David, Elizabeth (Fryman) and James Hinish are buried in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Oronoko Township, Berrien Springs, Michigan:

Note:  John Hinish married Mary Baker on 25 Apr 1811 in Bedford County, PA.  Mary Baker was born on 29 Jan 1792 and died on 24 Apr 1881 in Bedford County PA.  John Hinish died on 20 Jun 1853 at the age of 77 year 2 months and 17 days making his birth date 03 Apr 1776.  John Hinish was the son of Henry Hinish and Elizabeth Peck was born 1794.  John and Mary (Baker) Hinish are buried in the Hinish Family Cemetery in Hopewell Township. Bedford County, Pannsylvania.  Mary Baker’s parents were John and Fannie Baker, both are buried in Lucas Cemetery, Chester Township, Wayne County Ohio, John Baker died 20 Jan 1843 and Fannie Baker died 28 Feb 1847.

 

The Hinish Family Cemetery is located on a farm originally owned by Henry Hinish who came to this country in 1754. The cemetery is located in Hopewell Township, Bedford County, PA. The cemetery is located south of Everett, Pa about 3 or 4 miles northeast of the village of Tatesville along the Raystown branch of the Juniata River.

Maria Susannah born 1/27/1771 in Washington County, Maryland and married to Simon Ford, Sr in 1792 Marie Elizabeth born 8/30/1773 in Washington County, Maryland and married to Henry Rinard

John born 9/3/1775 in Washington County, Maryland and married to Mary Baker

Anna Catherina born 10/9/1777 in Washington County, Maryland and married to Henry Ickes.

All of Henry's children were married in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. All of them are buried in Bedford County except Mary married to John Ogden who is buried in Marietta, Ohio and the first John Henry who was buried in York, Pennsylvania.”  Records indicate Henry Hinish married Elizabeth Peck or Beck.
