his birth date as 01 Sep 1881. Birthplace is given as Poland. Parents names are given in death

record as "unknown". His wife's name is given as Louise and he is listed as "widowed". There is a marriage record dated 10 Jan 1942 which appears to be a second marriage for Martin Strunk. He was 60 years of age and married Mrs. Sophia Helen Ott. Sophia's maiden name was Miller and he was 53 years of age and this was her 2nd marriage. In this marriage record Martin's father is recorded as "Carl Strunk" and his mother as "Amelia Kletke". Sophia is buried as Sophia Ott with her 1st husband, August, in Greenwood Cemetery, Berrien County, Michigan.

An obituary for Martin Strunk was carried in the News Palladium on 10 Oct 1966 and it reads:

"Martin Strunk, 85, of 301 North Veronica, St. Joseph, died at 10 p.m. Saturday in the Cunningham nursing home in Plainwell. Mr. Strunk was born in Poland Sept. 1, 1881, and came to the United States in 1911. In 1923, he moved to Benton Harbor. Until his retirement in 1946, he had been employed by Whirlpool Corp. He was a veteran of the Russian Japanese war of 1903. Survivors include two sons, Chris of St. Joseph and Edward of Hamilton: two step-children, Fred Rothenburger of Benton Harbor and Mrs. Christina Rothenburger of Bristish Columbia, Canada; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. His wife, preceded him in death in 1959. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Matthew's Lutheran church, Benton harbor. The Rev. K. W. Biedenbender, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Crystal Springs cemetery. The Kerlikowske and Starks funeral home, St. Joseph is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Haase-Wendland scholarship fund at St. Matthew's Lutheran church."

Daughter of Johann George and Caroline (Hammer) Hauch of Volhynia, Russia. She married three times: 1st to Gottlieb Rothenburger in Volhynia, Russia, 2nd to Samuel Stubel also in Volhynia and after the death of her first two husbands she married 3rd to Martin Stunk in Volhynia. They came to North America (Canada) sometime after 1907. The News Palladium carried an obituary for Louise Strunk on 20 Jan 1940 and it reads: "Death Takes Mrs. Martin Strunk, 74; Services Monday Mrs. Louise Strunk, 618 Madison street, Benton Harbor, died at her home early this morning following an illness of three weeks. Mrs. Strunk was 74 years old at the time of her death and had been in failing health for serveral years. She was born in Poland, May 10, 1865, and came to Benton Harbor from Canada in 1923. She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran church where funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. A prayer service will be held at the residence at 1:30 p.m. Monday before the body is taken to the church. The Rev. Henry C. Haase, pastor, will officiate at the rites. Burial will be in the family lot in Crystal Springs cemetery. The body will be returned to the residence this afternoon from the Kerlikowske funeral home. Besides her husband, Mrs. Strunk is survived by seven sons, Fred Rotenberg, Sam Streble and John, Crist and Edward Strunk, all of Benton Harbor, and Adolph and Joseph Rotenberg, of Canada; two daughters, Mrs. Rudolph Seidel and Christina Rotenberg, both of Canada; two brothers, John Hauch, of Canada, and employed by Whirlpool Corp. her brother John is buried in the cemetery at Rosthern, Saskatchewan, Canada. A sister Christine

Hauch married to Karl Rothenburger of Rosthern, Saskatchewan, Canada. Karl and "Kristina" are buried in the Arma Mennonite Cemetery near Rosthern Canada. A daughter Christina Stuble

married Friederich Rothenburger and live in Canada.

The Herald Palladium carried an obituary for John Strunk on 10 Apr 1954 and it reads: "Funeral

services were held Friday at 2:30 p.m. in St. Matthew's church, Benton Harbor for John Strunk, 47, 709 Broadway Benton Harbor. The Rev. E. H. Wendland pastor of the church officiated. Burial was in the Crystal Springs cemetery. The church choir of which the deceased was a member sang 'Lord When I Am Departing'. Arvin Jantz was at the church organ. The church board, the school board, the Merry Men's Glee club and the office employees of Remington Rand company attended the rites in a body. Serving as pallbearers were Theodore Hornburg, Jerry Reimann, Emil Meyer, Walter Zindler, Ervin Steinke and Nathan Cohen. Mr. Strunk died at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday at his home following an illness of four years. The Kerlikowske funeral home St. Joseph, was in charge of the funeral arrangements."

On September 28, 1957 she married Albert Sempert who preceded her in death on July 1, 1985. During her life she was an active member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary Society and a long time Sunday school teacher. She sang in four different choirs for a total of 50 years and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Ladies Aid Society. Survivors are four daughters, Rosalie (Harold) Hosbach of Saginaw; Eleanor Strunk of Kalamazoo,MI Esther (Robert) Diez of West Allis, Wisconsin, and Louise (Frank) Prillwitz of Eau Claire,MI One son, John (Jayn) Strunk of Benton Harbor,MI 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are 11 brothers and sisters and one

great-granddaughter.”

“LAKE ANN - Jayn Antoinette Strunk, 64, a homemaker of Lake Ann, died

Monday, June 14, 2004, at Munson Medical Center. Born March 7, 1940, in Detroit, she was the daughter of John and Jayn (Lapham) LaBudda. On Aug 26, 1961, in Flat Rock, she married John Strunk, who survives. Formerly of Benton Harbor, Jayn moved to the Lake Ann area in 2002.

She enjoyed all animals, especially dogs; she raised horses, and was known as a kind of "horse whisperer." Jayn enjoyed sewing clothes for the family, crocheting, crafts and reading. She was also an avid lighthouse collector and enjoyed making cookies for the Barbershop Chorus. Jayn was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Interlochen, a long time member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Benton Harbor, and a member of Builders for Christ, where she and her husband traveled in their motor home to work sites. Jayn will be fondly remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed. Along with her husband John, Jayn is survived by her children, Martha Strunk of Benton Harbor, Emilie (Mark) McConnell of Conroe, Texas, Sarah (Rich) Pollard and Luke (Wendy) Strunk, of Watervliet, Philip (Kristina) Strunk of Coloma; 12 grandchildren; brother, Steven LaBudda of Flat Rock; and an aunt, Katherine Austin of Flat Rock. She was preceded in death by her parents. A funeral service will be held at at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 16, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Interlochen, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Pastor Timothy Mowry will officiate the service. Burial will be in Lake Ann Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to either Redeemer Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Women's Missionary League. The family is being served by the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City.”

“Verna M. Strunk, 97, died April 12, 2011, at Sebastian River Medical Center.

She was born in Michigan City, Ind., and lived in the Sebastian/Barefoot Bay area for 25 years,

coming from Onekama, Mich. Before retirement, she was a kindergarten teacher in a Lutheran grade school in Benton Harbor, Mich. She was born in Michigan City, Ind., and lived in the Sebastian/Barefoot Bay area for 25 years, coming from Onekama, Mich. She graduated from Benton Harbor High School and had a teaching certificate from County Normal

College in Michigan. Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen VanDerHulst of Holland, Mich.; and son, Robin Strunk of Stevensville, Mich.; and several grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 78 years, Christian, in November 2010. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 611 Schumann Drive, Sebastian, FL 32958. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. April 14 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sebastian. A committal service for Verna and Christian will be May 14 at North Shore Memory Gardens in
