This Cemetery is located in Section 24 of the Sodus Township, Sodus was located in Sodus twp in about 1859 and previously was a part of Pipestone Township (Ref: History of Berrien County). Some of the ancestors buried within this cemetery were responsible for the settling and creation of this township. The first election for the township, 1860, was held in the Rector School House. Mount Pleasant Cemetery was located near what was named School House No. 4. See the 1887 atlas map for Sodus township and section 24 for location of same. Note on this same map the vicinity of the cemetery being very close to the school house.
