Note From Jackie Partin. This diary was carried to Florida by someone in the J. W. Lockhart line. It was found in paper’s, which were to be discarded, and sent to the Arthur Curtis family in Coalmont, TN. In essence, it made its way back home.

I have been transcribing a daily diary which was started on 01 Jan 1870 in St. Joseph or Lincoln Township.  The young author's name was Dennis Priest Curtis.  His family was preparing to make a move by wagon to Tennessee. Surnames mentioned in the diary are, Cadwells, Watsons, VanDeusen, Curtis, Abbott, Williams, Eldridge, Batchelor, ect.

The Curtis family moved to St. Joseph from Stockbridge, Mass., via Freemont, Ind. He continued his diary up into the fall of the year here in Grundy County, TN. There is a note that there is a Vol. 2, but the Curtis family doesn't have it.
