Avery Grade School
Located in Section 1 of Three
Oaks Township
1844 brought the first school house built for teaching in the area. It was Known as "Cherry Log School" Located Donner Road & Three Oaks Rd in Three Oaks Township |
1847 "Spring Creek School" came into being "Spring Creek Grade School AKA Cherry School Located Donner Road & Three Oaks Rd in Three Oaks Township |
1854 brought "Log School" - in the Village of
Three Oaks present day location would have been Elm and Ash Streets. |
1857 wood frame school house replaced the "Log School" house. |
1860 - Avery Grade School Located in Section 1 of Three Oaks Township |
1864 - Basswood Grade School Located US 12 & Basswood Road in Three Oaks Township - School Closed in 1938 when Three Oaks Elementary and High School came into existance. 1893 - Teacher - Miss. Waty Ludlum later Mrs Waty Ludlum Daniels |
1866 North School came in to being. (wood frame) |
1867 - West School - brick material used to build school |
1877 Brick School was commenced and addition added in 1896. In 1919 school was unfortunately destroyed. |
1879 "Spring Creek" brick school house completed |
1921 Three Oaks school was built of brick and a gymnasium added in 1936 Classes were offered from 1921 to 1968 when Three Oaks and New Troy schools combined to make River Valley High school. |
