The Niles Daily star carried an obituary for Carrie James on
24 Dec 1937 and it reads: “Heart Attack
Fatal to Galien Woman Thursday Galien,
Dec 24-Sudden heart attack following an illness of several months proved fatal
Thursday night to Mrs. Carrie James, Galien, who died at 9 o’clock in the home of
her sister, Mrs. S. B. Hampton. Mrs.
James was born in Galien township, Dec 22, 1874, and had lived here all her
life. She was 63. Her husband, John, Mrs. Hampton and two
brothers, Joseph Heckathorne, Dayton, and Frank Heckathorne, Galien
survive. The body will be taken from the
Kenney funeral home to the Latter Day Saints church Sunday at 1 o’clock where
it will lie in state until the hour of the service at 2. Elder J. W. McKnight will officiate. Burial will be in the Galien cemetery. Nephews of Mrs. James will serve as
pallbearers.” The Galien River Gazette
carried the following on 30 Dec 1937: “Bury
Mrs. Carrie James At Galien Olive Branch community was Friday morning by the
sudden death of our neighbor and friend Mrs. Carrie James, who passed away at
the house of he only sister, Mrs. Samuel Hampton, Thursday evening at nine
o’clock after a few hours illness. Mrs.
James was born in Galien township, Dec 22, 1874, and has been a life long
resident of this community. Surviving
are her husband, John James, one sister, Mrs. Hampton, and two brothers, Frank
Heckathorne, Olive Branch, and Joseph Heckathorne, Dayton. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon
at two o’clock at the L. D. S. church, conducted by the rev. J. W.
McKnight. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Marsh
were the singers. Six nephews were
casket bearers. Burial in the Galien

Jefferis, Rebecca M.
Died of quick consumption at her home near
Stephensville, Mich., Feb 28, 1887, Mrs. Rebbeca M. Jefferis, aged 39 years.
The deceased was born near Wilmington, Ohio, where she was married to Wm. D.
Jeferis, on May 1st, 1866, and a few days afterwards came with her husband to
the home where they resided until the time of her death. Acting under the
advice of physicians and friends, she and her husband went South early in
September last and spent some months at Aiken, S. C., hoping the climate there
might prove beneficial but not finding relief returned on Jan. 19th to close
her life among loving relatives and friends. She was a devoted and loving wife
and mother and an earnest Christian; departing confident and joyous in the hope
of a happy life and a bright reward beyond the grave. Taken from the

Johnson, Elizabeth - - - Tuesday, November 2, 1948 - The
Niles Daily Star - Receive Word Of Death Three Oaks - Nov. 2 -- Word has
been received by relatives here of the death last Saturday night in Southgate,
Cao., of Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson, 75, a resident of Three Oaks until a few years
ago. Her death, in a hospital there, followed a two-week illness.
Mrs. Johnson was born Feb 22, 1873 in Indiana, daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Benton Stanage. Most of her lifetime was spent in the Three
Oaks vicinity. Surviving are the following children: Orville
Looker, Mrs. Fairlee Krueger and William Johnson, all of Southgate; Percy
Looker and Keith Johnson, both of Michigan City, Ind., a daughter, Mildred, in
Detroit; and Harold Johnson, Mishawaka, Ind. She also leaves two brothers,
Thomas, Sr. , and John Stanage, both of Three Oaks.

BERRIEN SPRINGS -- Todd Christopher Jordan, 33, of Berrien
Springs, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph. A
funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 29,
at the Pioneer Memorial Church on the campus of Andrews University, of which he
was a member. Friends are invited to visit with
the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Legacy Family Funeral Services-Matthew R.

Services. Todd was born Jan. 5, 1971, in Berrien Springs, to James R. and
Carol L. (Nash) Jordan. He was a 1991 graduate of Andrews Academy and attended
Andrews University for three years.
Todd was a gifted computer programmer whose passions for life
included his family, his work and helping others. On Oct. 12, 1993, he
married Davka I. Aparicio, who survives along with their three children --
Karen Marie, Gabriella Nicole and Catherine Michelle Jordan, all at home in
Berrien Springs. In addition to his parents, James R. and Carol L. Jordan of
Berrien Springs, additional survivors include a brother, Michael "Micki"
(Darla-Mae) Jordan and a sister, Asha M Jordan, both of Berrien Springs; his
maternal grandfather, Russell Nash of Fletcher, N.C., and his paternal
grandmother, Myrtle Jordan of Madison, Tenn. He was preceded in death by an
