BENTON HARBOR -- Roger Wayne
Keath, 51, of Benton Harbor passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, May 21,
2004.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday,
May 27, at Fairplain Chapel, Florin Funeral Service, Benton Harbor, with the
Rev. James O. Childs officiating. Visitation will take place on Thursday
beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial with military rites
will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Sodus. Memorials may be made to the
American Heart Association.
Mr. Keath was born on May 6, 1953, in
Benton Harbor. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine after graduating
from high school. Mr. Keath resided for a time in California and Kansas City,
Kan., where he worked as a salesman for Pittsburgh Paints, before returning to
the Benton Harbor area. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved
him.
His is survived by his daughter, Chrystal (Josh) Scott of Benton
Harbor; his son, Ryan Keath of Benton Harbor; his mother and stepfather, Eunice
and Herman Van Horn of Benton Harbor; his brother, Phillip A.D. Keath of
Coloma; three sisters -- Dianna (Robert) Van Horn of Benton Harbor, Pam Seeweld
of Muskegon, Mich., and Patricia (Elmer) Flener of Berrien Springs; his
grandchildren -- Mikayela Scott and Madison Scott, both of Benton Harbor; his
close friends, David and Linda Haase; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dorris A.D. Keath, in
1996.

Kesterke, Alvina nee Strunk -- The News Palladium Carried an obituary for Alvina (Strunk)
Kesterke on 05 May 1941 and it reads:
“Mrs. A. Kesterke Dies Saturday A heart attach caused the death of Mrs.
Alvina Kesterke, 632 Madison street, at 10:30 o’clock Saturday night. She was stricken while walking home on
Territorial road and did enroute to the hospital. She was born in Russia, November 11,
1891. She was married to William
Kesterke in Chicago, 31 years ago. Survivors
besides the husband are a son Harry, at home, two brothers, Martin Strunk and
Michael Strunk, both of this city. A
sister, Mrs. John Gerlach, Benton township also survives. Mrs. Kesterke was a member of St. Matthew’s
Lutheran church. Funeral services will
be in Reiser’s chapel at 2 o’clock, Tuesday afternoon. The Rev. H. O. Haase pastor of St. Matthew’s
Lutheran church will officiate. Burial
will be in Crystal Springs cemetery.”
King, Bertha nee Schlack
The Herald
Palladium carried the obituary for Bertha King on 13 Feb 1974 and it reads:
“Mrs. Bertha King, 77, of Route 2, Box 263, Britain avenue, Benton Harbor,
died at 2:50 a.m. today in Buchanan Community hospital. Surviving are two
daughters, Mrs. R.C. (Willeda) Williams and Mrs. George (Shirley) Edgell of
Benton Harbor; a brother Edward Schlack of Kalamazoo and a sister, Mrs. Ann
Heyn of Bridgman. Her husband William, preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 1973.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Grace Lutheran Church.
Burial will be in North Shore Memory Gardens. Friends may call at Kerley and
Starks funeral home after 7 this evening.” She was the daughter of Edward

Krone, Matilda nee Hauch
The obituary for
Matilda (Hauch) Krone was carried in the News Palladium on 25 Mar 1972 and it
reads: “Mrs. Matilda Krone Bridgman-Mrs. Matilda Krone, 99, of route 2,
Three Oaks, died at 3:30pm yesterday in St. Anthony’s hospital, where she
had been a patient since Tuesday. She was born Dec. 16, 1872, in Russia, and
came to Sawyer in 1901. Survivors include two sons, William and Rhine of
Sawyer; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Logman of LaPorte, Ind., three sisters, Mrs.
Lena Krumrie of Sawyer, Mrs. Molly Schultz of Sodus and Mrs. Alvene Martin of
Benton Harbor, 14 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 8
great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at
the Trinity Lutheran church in Sawyer, with the Rev. A.W. Pankratz officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenwood cemetery, Bridgman. Friends may call at the
Boyd funeral home, Bridgman, after 7p.m. Today.”

Krumrie, Adeline nee Hauch
The News
Palladium carried a death notice for Adeline Krumrie on 21 Oct 1974 and it
reads: “Adeline Krumrie Three Oaks-Mrs. Adeline Krumrie, 100, of route 1,
Sawyer, died at 10:35 p.m. Sunday at Jordan Nursing home, Bridgman, where she
had been a patient for 3 ½ months. Arrangements are incomplete at the
Connelly-Noble funeral home, Three Oaks.” The following day the same
newspaper carried this follow-up: “Krumrie Rites Set Three Oaks-Funeral
services for Mrs. Adeline Krumrie, 100, of route 1, Sawyer, who died Sunday at
Jordan Nursing home, Bridgman, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Trinity
Lutheran church, Sawyer, of which she was a member. Burial will be in Riverside
cemetery, north of Three Oaks. Friends may call at the Connelly-Noble funeral
home, Three Oaks. Her husband, Albert, preceded her in death in 1955. Surviving
are five daughters, Miss Hulda Lockman, Sawyer, Mrs. Harry (Natalie) Madson,
Winnetka, Ill., Mrs. George (Marion) Reinhart, Gwen, Wisc., Mrs. Forrest
(Grace) Layman, Stevensville, Mrs. Ray (Helen) Dudack, Rolling Prairie; a son
Emil Krumrie, Sawyer; two sisters, Mrs. Alvina Martin and Mrs. Mollie Schultz,
both of Benton Harbor.”
