| PERK, FREDERICKA: (Courier & Republican, Coldwater, December 8, 1905) A German Pioneer. Mrs. Fredericka PERK Died Wednesday Night. Mrs. Fredericka PERK died of liver complain Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 6, at five o'clock p.m., at the home of her son, Will, No. 91 Hooker street Mrs. PERK had been in poor health for the past year, but took to her bed only last Monday afternoon. Fredericka MANNEROW was born at Mecklenburg, Germany, May 12, 1826, and was at the time of her death 49 years, six months and 24 days of age. She was united in marriage at the age of nineteen years to John PERK, and in 1850 she came with him to America, settling first in Buffalo, N.Y.; later they lived at LeRoy, a small town near Buffalo, and in 1866 they located in Coldwater, which has since been the family home. Mrs. PERK was the mother of ten children of whom six survive, as follows: Eliza RATTRAY and Margaret BRAUN, of Coldwater, Martin PERK, of Sturgis, Chas. and Will PERK of this city, and Lavinia HALL, of Findlay, O. Beside her children she is survived by eighteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. PERK died in August, 1890. Mrs. PERK became a member of the German Lutheran church before coming to America, and was one of the most loved and faithful of the congregation in Coldwater. As long as her strength permitted she was a constant attendant at service, often making the long walk against the wishes of her loving children, who better than she realized her weakness. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon, when at 2:00 prayer will be held at the house, followed by services at the church at 2:30. Interment will be made in Oak Grove cemetery. |
