Obituary.

We record in our present issue the death of one of the oldest citizens of the community. Mr. Polydore Hudson, who died at his residence in the township of Leroy, on Wednesday, the 23rd inst. in the 72nd year of his age, after an illness of only three weeks, and having been confined to his bed for only four days. He was a resident of this city when it numbered but two or three families, having outlived most of those who were associated with him in those early days. By the peculiar amiability of his character and the integrity which he manifested in every relation of life, he early obtained the respect of his neighbors--a respect which he retained through the many years of his residence in this vicinity and many will regret to learn the death of one who shared so largely their confidence and esteem. His funeral was attended on the Thursday, succeeding his death at the Baptist Meeting House in South Battle Creek, when an appropriate sermon was preached by the Rev. S. E. Wishard of this city.
