Updated on June 19, 2015 - Bethel Cemetery is located in Calvin Township, Section21 - just west of Calvin Center Road on Mount Zion Street.
In the 1943 DAR readings, they state that most of the burials in this cemetery were mostly colored residents of the township.
The Calvin Settlement had many families of mixed ancestry from North Carolina and Virginia.
Some were considered to have been Indians or mixed Indian/African in Cass County.
The Bethel Church in Calvin Twp, was formed in about 1856. The earliest buriel we show below is 18 year old Lydia Ann White. Cemetery appears
to be on or near the Samuel Curtis property in 1860 property listings. Maurice Sanders transribed part of this cemetery.Any time you view an older cemetery, in no matter what county through out the USA, the listing should be considered as a partial listing
as many times records are either destroyed through mishap or not all burials were recorded.
