We are attempting to determine the following information concerning Joseph TEBO: 1. Identities of Joseph TEBO's parents. 2. Confirmation of from where Joseph TEBO and his family moved to Cheboygan. 3. When did Joseph TEBO move to Cheboygan. 4. The identity of Joseph's 5 brothers. 5. The surname used by Joseph TEBO's family in Canada.

Name: Joseph TEBO, DOB: 1832, Baptism: 1883, DOD: Aug. 30, 1895
First Wife: Almeda JARVIS
Children: Adelbert TEBO Apr 11, 1857, Edward TEBO Jul 4, 1858, Olive WYMANN TEBO 1861, Joseph Tebo Jr 1864- Mar 10, 1888, Rose WHEELER TEBO 1866, Victoria Nora TEBO 1868-Sep 22, 1882, Willard Franklin Tebo 1872- Feb 13, 1910, Agnes TEBO 1875, Carrie STODDARD TEBO 1876.

Second Wife: Martha JONES Marriage Feb 6, 1887 Cheboygan MI

One record indicates he was born in St. Martin, Canada. We believe that to be Quebec. He was one of 5 brothers each served in the U.S. Civil War. They came to Cheboygan, Michigan from Canada. JOSEPH went to northern New York in the vicinity of Dicken Center, New York where a fiend or relative found work in the timber industry. NY State, Franklin Co 1875 Census lists JOSEPH as being 43 and Olive ALMEDIA his wife as 37. We do not know when he went from Michigan to New York. There he married ALMEDIA JARVIS. When she died in 1838 he went back to Cheboygan area and married MARTHA JONES, a Cheboygan war widow on 2/6/1887. JOSEPH died in 1895 and is buried in Pine Ridge Cemetery in Cheboygan, MI. His grave is located on a ridge in the cemetery by a flag pole with 5 other veterans. Numerous unidentified pictures of TEBO relatives available. This is an update to the query I submitted in January 1998. I have included additional information and I also have a new email address. Thank you. Hollis Bliss, Lawrenceville, GA, hb33@hkbliss.com

We are seeking information on GRUET (also spelled as GRUETT, GRUETTE, GREWETT, GREWETTE AND GRUIT), ANDRESS (ANDRUS), MASHOE MASHO, MASHU, MASHUE) and VERLINDE. The GRUET's are French-Canadian and Chippawa. They had settled around the Mackinac area about 1769. The parents, James GRUET and Julie Francoise (no last name) were transported to Pennetanguishene, Ont. in 1828. Some of their children, James, Peter, Sophia and Julia. In particular, we have lost track of GG grandfather, James Gruet who was born about 1810, and GGrandfather Samuel Gruett who was born about 1861. GG Grandmother Mary MASHOE, also French-Canadian and Chippawa. She was the daughter of Louis MASHOE and IKWA WA NIGANITZ. G Grandmother Charlotte ANDRESS, also called Charlotte Prudus ANDRUS. We have no information on her family. The VERLINDE's were Belgian and came to America in about 1900. The parents were Karolus VERLINDE and Florentia PUYPE. Grandmother, Mary VERLINDE married James GRUETTE (son of Samuel, son of James GRUET). The GRUET's and MASHOE's lived mostly in Indian communities and there is very little documented information on them. So far, most GRUET's, MASHOE's and VERLINDE's, in Michigan, are related. We are seeking any leads possible. Thank you.
