I noticed on the Chippewa web site that you have a listing of marriages in that area. I have a copy of a marriage license #1-394 issued June 30 1892 for my grandparents that I have been trying to collect more information on.
Alexander McDonald birth yr 1861 ? (his age at the time of marriage was listed as 31) his father's name is listed as John McDonald---mother's name only as Catherin Matilda Keep (Keop) birth yr. 1873 (her age at the time of marriage was listed as 19) her father's name is not given and her mother's name is listed as Keep--which I know is wrong.
Both listed their residence as Sault Ste Marie.
George Luther was the clergyman who married them but I can't even find out what religious denomination he was.
There witmesses were Peter Edward and Eliza McDonald both listed residence as Sault Ste Marie also.
Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Could anyone let me know where Dell, Michigan is? My Grandfather was born there. It's suppose to be in Chippewa County, but I can't find it. These are other towns that have to do with my family Sault Ste. Marie and Fibre ,Chippewa County and Rexton, Mackinac, County.
My Grandfather's name is Shirley Ralph Jones. His parents are Albert Thomas Jones and Hazel Mae LaBar. Other names are Bremer and LaBar / Labar / Labarr
Although Albert Thomas Jones and family moved to Northwest Indiana. There should Still be plenty of Jones and LaBar's still living in Chippewa county today. Also Bremer's,Who I am related to through Shirley Ralph Jones' sister, Iris (Jones) Bremer, who married (Henry) Lee Bremer. That Family should still be living in or near Sault Ste. Marie.

I am researching the ancestor ANTOINE PICARD (aka PECOR or PIKKARD). We find
him on the Michigan Census, 1827-70 (Ancestry.com): Year - 1833, Surname:
PICARD, Given Name: ANT, County: Chippewa; a Petitioner (MI Early Census
Index, ID#MIS3a1451641).
ANTOINE PICARD is said to have married MARGARET KING (Sa-gaw-ce-ga-quay),
probably between 1830-33. A child, Sophie Picard was born in 1833. Where in
Chippewa County could I find a Marriage record about that time period, or a
birth record for Sophie Picard - b. 1833 ?
Antoine Picard (Pecor) later settled in Houghton Co. and Keweenaw Co., but we
can find no records in those counties, or in Baraga Co. Any 1830s records
for PICARD may be helpful. We have not been able to trace further back than
Antoine Picard.
We have a death date for Antoine Picard of ABT.1882 (from probate files) -
again no record yet found. Margaret King Picard died in 1843 - (from probate
files) - no record found.
Any help as to where in Chippewa Co. we should search is much appreciated.

My Grandfather, Capt. William Frechette, passed away in the Sault in 1926; he and my Grandmother (Minnie Trotechaud) are buried at Riverside Cemetery. My Grandfather retired as a Captain on the Great Lakes and I've yet to find his ship's name or when he retired. When my Grandfather passed away he had 7 Grandchildren and 19 Great-Grandchildren. Capt. William's parents, Michael and Charlotte Frechette are buried in the Ashmun Hill Cemetery. Captain William's siblings are: Alexander, John, Michael, Joseph, and Felix. I am looking for anyone who may have connections to these names. After 10 years of ongoing researching and many, many visits to the Sault, I have little information on my Grandfather's brothers and families. I do have a family tree on Ancestry.com so if you have any information, please email me at jodi@ejourney.com
