Sault Ste. Marie Newspaper January 1, 1898 The Nuptial Knot A very pretty marriage ceremony was preformed at St. James Episcopal church, Tuesday at 10 o'clock a.m., Rev. C.M. Westlake, the rector, officiated and Miss Carrie McEvoy presided at the organ. The contracting parties were were Miss Edna Kent daughter of Mrs. M.J. Kent of this city, and Douglas Carmichael of Calumet. The groom was attended by Harry Johnston as groomsman and Master Ray MacGillivray as page. The bride who was beautifully attired in a light-blue silk dress, trimmed with lace and pearls, was presented by her brother Fred, Miss Allice Callaban acting as bridesmaid and little "Carol" Hays as maid of honor. After the ceremony the bridal party and invited guests repaired to the residence of the bride's mother on Hart street, where a sumptuous wedding breakfast was partaken of and a very pleasant reception held. The presents were many and valuable. Mr. and Mrs. Carmichael left on the evening train, accompanied by Mrs. Hays of Newberry, sister of the groom, at whose house the happy couple will spend some days before proceeding to their home in Calumet. They have many friends here who wish them the choicest blessings of home and wedded life. Mrs. CArmichael was a general favorite in society, school and church circles, where she will be greatly missed. The guests were as follows: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kent and Wm.
