Kelly, Esther Jane (Evans), age 90 of Kettering , passed away on Saturday,
February 19, 2011 at The Suites of Walnut Creek . Esther was born September
12, 1920 in Columbus, Ohio to Bess & E. I. Evans. Esther spent her first 40
years in Columbus where she attended public schools & graduated from St. Mary
of Springs in 1938. Esther attended Ohio University & graduated from Grant
Hospital School of Nursing in 1942. In 1943 she met & married her "one & only"
Earl F. Kelly. Esther & Earl lived a happy & full 54 years together with their
four children. While living in Columbus Esther was very active at Crestview
Presbyterian Church, many school & community organizations & still worked
several nights a week at Grant & Riverside Hospitals. Although her first love
was her family, a very close second was the nursing profession. After moving
to Kettering , Ohio in 1964, she continued her volunteer work with Fairmont
Presbyterian Church, Kettering Schools , the Western Ohio Federation of Child
Conservation Leagues-where she served as their Southwest District President,
Montgomery County Ombudsman-where she was selected Ombudsman of the year at
their state convention. Esther did this volunteer service while working part
time at Miami Valley & Kettering Hospitals.
Esther was preceded in death by her son, Michael Earl Kelly in 1989, her
sister, Alice Ann Evans in 1993, her husband, Earl Francis Kelly in 1996, her
brother, George Allan Evans in 2005, her daughter, Jane Ann Aguilar in 2006.
Esther is survived by daughter, Susan Kelly Choate (James) of Kettering, son,
Colonel Thomas Evan Kelly (Masako) of U. S. Army Bahrain, five grandchildren,
Megan Aguilar of Centerville , Melissa Aguilar of Chicago, Kevin Aguilar of
Dayton-their father & step mother, Carlos & Theresa Aguilar of Kettering,
Laura Kelly of Florida State College, Alissa Kelly of St. Leo College,
Florida, her brother, Dr. Thomas Paul Evans (Irveline) of Columbus, Oh & their
children, her dear sister-in-law, Louise Evans of Delaware, Oh & her children
and many loyal, life-long friends. Esther loved & cherished them all. Esther
spoke her mind, was comfortable with who she was & her only regret with
leaving was she would still like to know "what's going on".
Family will greet friends on Saturday, February 26 from 9:30-11:30AM at
Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. Stroop Rd. , Kettering . Funeral service will
begin at 11:30AM with Rev. Dr. Robert Wade officiating. Burial to follow in
David’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Esther and her family extend a special thank you to ALL the staff at The
Suites of Walnut Creek for their kindness and patience. In addition, a sincere
thank you to The Hospice of Dayton for their compassionate and contributing

Esther connections to the Flint area is through marriage. She married Flint
Northern's Earl Kelly and had many relatives on his side of the family in the
Flint area. Earl and Esther were frequent visitors to the home of Frank and
Stella Kelly during the the Chirstmas holidays and other special occasions.
