HARRY J. DAHLKE, 91, of Manistee, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, in Stronach Township.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. with evening prayers at 8 p.m. today at Herbert Funeral Home in Manistee. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Harriet L. Davidson
Died November 28, 1999
KEWADIN - Harriet L. Davidson, of Kewadin and Houston, Texas, died of cancer Sunday at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington while on a visit with her granddaughter, Heidi Nolan and her family.
Harriet was born in Duluth, Minn. to Herman and Selma (Franke) Hildebrandt. She was a Duluth resident until her marriage to James B. Davidson of Midland in 1971.
While growing up in Duluth, Harriet was an avid sportswoman, enjoying tennis, horseback riding and golf. She was an excellent artist specializing in water colors. She was an active volunteer for many civic and philanthropic organizations. She was employed by the Duluth Athletic Club for many years.
In 1981 the Davidsons retired to their home on Torch Lake where Harriet enjoyed cooking, gardening and entertaining family and friends. They spent the winter months in Houston, Texas.
She is survived by her husband; daughter, Nancy (Edward) Older of Houston, Texas; stepson, James Davidson of Midland; stepdaughter, Marjorie Davidson of Annapolis, Md.; brother, Elvin Hildrebrandt of Duluth, Minn.; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Harriet was predeceased by her parents and brothers, Wilfred and Ralph Hildebrandt.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Elk Rapids with the Rev. Fredrick Myers officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be directed to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 406 Traverse St., Elk Rapids, MI.
Arrangements are being handled by Kerr Brothers Funeral Home in Lexington, Ky.

Robert S. Davis
Died December 23, 1999
MT. PLEASANT - Robert S. Davis, 63, of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday at the Isabella Medical Care Facility.
Born March 14, 1936, "Bob" was the son of Dr. Lionel and Lucile (Schacht) Davis, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his sister, Barbara A. (Davis) Berry of Traverse City and two nieces, Melissa C. Berry and Jennifer R. Berry, both of Traverse City, who loved him dearly.
Robert lived mostly in Mt. Pleasant with his parents until they retired to North Carolina. He loved to sing accompanied by his mother. Though developmentally disabled, in the fifties he memorized the Messiah and sang it with the Central Michigan College Choir. He also is well remembered by friends for singing the Lord's Prayer for his sister's wedding in 1966. He loved sports and avidly followed the Tigers, the Lions, the Red Wings and the Pistons. The Red Wings recently autographed a shirt for him. He loved to listen to classical music, especially Karl Haas on Saturday mornings. After being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, Karl's son, Jeff Haas, a physical therapist specialist, was also important in helping him to keep his mobility as long as possible.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be directed to the Isabella Medical Care Facility, 1222 North Dr., Mt. Pleasant, MI 48858, which was founded by his father, Dr. Lionel L. Davis, and whose wonderful staff has taken great loving care of him for the past 13 years that he has resided there.
Arrangements are being handled by Helms Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.

Greg L. Dawson

KEWADIN - Greg L. Dawson, 48, of Kewadin, died Wednesday at his home.
Born Jan. 18, 1951, in Central Lake, he was the son of Ivan and Betty (Hockin) Dawson. On Jan. 30, 1971, in Bellaire, he married the former Oleta Taylor.
Greg was employed at Gmoser Septic Service in Elk Rapids as a truck driver from 1982 to 1998. Prior to that he worked at Super Tool in Elk Rapids for 17 years. He was a member of the Traverse City Eagles No. 383 and a past member of Elk Rapids Sportsmen's Club. An avid car enthusiast, especially Ford Mustangs, he attended car shows and other motor sporting events. He was also an avid deer hunter and loved his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Oleta, of Kewadin; one son, Bryant (Vicky) Dawson of Mt. Morris; a brother, Bradley (Marge) Dawson of Kewadin; three sisters, Norma (Duane) Johnson of Kewadin, Lana (Ron) Bentley of Albuquerque, NM and Lucille Arnold of Williamsburg; and two grandchildren, Alexandra and Darek Dawson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family will greet friends from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. memorial service Monday, Dec. 27, at Elk Rapids Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes; Rev. Mary Brown will officiate.

Roy J. Dawson
Died November 29, 1999
HARBOR SPRINGS - Roy J. Dawson, 62, of Harbor Springs, died Monday at his home.
Roy was born Oct. 18, 1937, at Central Lake, the son of Edward and Grace (Ward) Dawson. He attended and graduated from Central Lake schools in 1955. On Nov. 21, 1959, he married Mary Lou Hoffman in Harbor Springs and the couple made their home in Harbor Springs since 1962.
Roy worked on the Grand Trunk Railroad car ferries on the Ludington to Manitowoc, Wis. route for four years and for Lamina Bronze Corp. in Bellaire for several years. He also worked for Louis A. Hoffman & Sons in Harbor Springs doing maintenance and construction. Roy served as a firefighter for more than 30 years and was a charter organizer of the Holy Childhood bingo program. He belonged to the Holy Childhood cribbage team and was a member of the Boy Scouts Order of the Arrow. He was involved with the White Sox Little League Team as well as T-ball. He contributed much time and talent to fund-raisers for Holy Childhood Church and School.
Roy is survived by his wife; one son, Erich; brothers, Virgil and wife Barbara of Alma, Mel and wife Mardell of Bellaire, Jerry and wife Connie of Eastport, Roger and wife Anne of Las Vegas and Leonard and wife Elaine of Bellaire. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Aron, in 1990.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Holy Childhood Church. A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Childhood Church with Rev. Frank Kordek, OFM serving as celebrant. Interment will be in Holy Childhood Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Schiller Funeral Home in Harbor Springs.

JACK R. DE MORROW, 77, of Central Lake, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 1999, at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan. He was born Dec. 29, 1921.
Graveside services will be held in the spring at Marquette Woods Cemetery in Stevensville. Arrangements are by the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.

Marie Dennett

TRAVERSE CITY - Marie Dennett, 91, of Traverse City, died Wednesday.
Born Dec. 28, 1907, in W?k-aan-zee-en-duin, Netherlands, she was the daughter of William and Maria (De-Beukelarr) Van Galen. In 1929, in Grand Rapids, she married Edward Dennett, who preceded her in death in 1993.
Marie had been a resident of Traverse City for the past 40 years, moving here from Byron Center. She was a member of Pine Grove Church of God and enjoyed gardening and being outdoors.
She is survived by two sons, Edward "Bud" (Betty) Dennett of Byron Center and Richard Dennett of Buckley; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Carol Whiteford; two brothers; and five sisters.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Richard Bartlett officiating. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.

Audrey Rose DeYoung
Died December 6, 1999
TRAVERSE CITY - Audrey Rose DeYoung, 84, of Traverse City, died peacefully at home Monday morning.
Born Feb. 26, 1915, in Muskegon; she was the daughter of George and Katherine (Witt) Bull.
Audrey lived in Muskegon until her marriage to Lyle Sheldon DeYoung on Nov. 24, 1938. This year they celebrated 61 years of marriage.
She and Lyle moved to Traverse City to run Hilt's Wallpaper and Paint Store which later became DeYoungs Wallpaper and Paint Store in 1951. She did the bookkeeping for the store from 1938 to 1974.
Audrey was a life member of the Daisy Chain, a Catholic Daughter and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. A member of Munson Medical Auxiliary, she managed the hospital gift shop for 12 years.
She loved bridge, card games and knitting for her grandchildren. Audrey was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and the best "big grandma" any child could ask for.
Survivors include her husband, Lyle S. of Traverse City; two brothers, George (Janet) Bull of Muskegon and James (Mary) Bull of Hilton Head, S.C.; a sister, Eloisie (Albert) Engel of Ada; her daughter-in-law, Patricia DeYoung of Traverse City; four grandchildren, Douglas (Maureen) DeYoung, Dawn (Michale) Gildersleve of Traverse City, Daryl DeYoung of Beaver Creek, Colo., and Dana DeYoung of West Hartford, Conn.; four great-grandchildren, Katherine Rose and Molly France DeYoung, and Tyler Michael and Megan Elizabeth Gildersleeve - all of Traverse City; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Audrey was preceded in death by her only son, Lyle William, in 1992, a brother, Robert Bull, in 1976, and a sister, Katherine Gallagher in 1982.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where friends may call one hour before the service for visitation. The Rev. James Hayden will officiate.
Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be directed to the Lyle W. DeYoung Memorial Scholarship Fund, Grand Traverse MSU Alumni Assoc., PO Box 1633, Traverse City, MI 49685, Munson Hospice, or Immaculate Conception Restoration Fund.

Dorothy Jean 'Dee Dee' Dickert
Died November 27, 1999
MIDLAND - Dorothy Jean "Dee Dee" Dickert, 77, entered the presence of the Lord after a valiant struggle with colon cancer.
Born Oct. 20, 1922, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, she was the daughter of Charles H. and Frances H. (Thistle) Newcomer.
On May 27, 1944, Dee Dee married Yancey J. Dickert in Newberry, S.C., and moved to Midland in 1948.
Dee Dee was a member of First United Methodist Church of Midland and enjoyed her many friends.
Survivors include her husband, Yancey "Jack" Dickert; daughters, Wanda (Jim) Jones of Midland, Ginny (Mike) McCormick of Chandler, Ariz., Pamela (Terry) Allen of Durand, and Kathleen (Ted) Bee of Traverse City; and eight grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 30, at First United Methodist Church in Midland.
Dee Dee requested donations be made to the Charles H. Newcomer Scholarship fund which is named after her father who was a chemistry teacher in the Grand Rapids school district. G. Robert 'Bob' Dixon
Died December 22, 1999
TRAVERSE CITY - G. Robert "Bob" Dixon, 90, of Traverse City, died Wednesday at Munson Medical Center.
Beloved husband of Erma for almost 70 years, Bob was a teacher and school superintendent in northern Michigan before moving to Detroit to join the Ford Motor Co. in 1935. He assisted in the launch of the Willow Run Bomber Plant and retired from Ford Production Control in 1970.
A member of Grant First United Methodist Church, he became a Master Mason, Olive Branch Lodge in 1943. He also became a member of Scottish Rite and Shriner in 1972 and a life member of Grand Lodge F&AM in 1983. Bob was a past president of Cherryland High Twelve Club and of Michigan High Twelve. He served as a trustee of High Twelve International and was the 1991 Mason of the Year, 1993 Shriner of the Year and member of the DeMolay Legion of Honor. He was a strong supporter of the Buckley High School basketball team.
Bob is survived by his wife Erma, of Traverse City; two sisters, Katherine and Marjorie; and three brothers, Buell, Morley, and Roger.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes; a candlelight Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home; the Rev. Craig South will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Masonic Lodge No. 222, the Traverse City Shriners Club, or Buckley High School.

Almer Lloyd Dunlop
Died November 30, 1999
LAKE ANN - Almer Lloyd Dunlop, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away Tuesday at Munson Medical Center at the age of 83.
Born March 29, 1916, to Rex and Mary (Barber) Dunlop of Traverse City. He was joined in marriage to Marietta C. (Ramey) on Sept. 24, 1938.
Lloyd loved fishing and was a carpenter and owner of Dunlop Flowers in Traverse City. He was also a veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW Post No. 2780 and the Lake Ann United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Marietta; their four sons and wives, Lawrence (Valarie), James (Ginny), Timothy (Cheryl) and David (Michal); 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Rachel and Jean; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and three sisters.
A memorial open house will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Dunlop home.
