Mrs. Etha SMITH DITMARS

UNTIMELY DEATH -- Mrs. Etha SMITH DITMARS Passes Away
Mrs. Etha SMITH DITMARS , wife of Wm. H. DITMARS, M. D., of Jonesville, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Seth H. SMITH, of this city, departed this life May 10, after a brief illness. She was born at North Adams, Mich., December 14, 1874. For better educational privileges, her parents moved to Hillsdale in 1889. Etha was converted at the age of nine years, joined the M. E. church, and was ever afterward an earnest Christian worker.
She graduated at the Hillsdale high school in 1893 and the next year commenced her work in college, graduating in 1895 in vocal music and in 1896 in instrumental music and elocution, beside taking a considerable portion of a literary course. Her sweet voice in music delighted many audiences and she had marked success in teaching. She had a bright and happy way of saying and doing things which won for her a countless number of friends. She was married to Wm. H. DITMARS, M. D. June 15, 1897, since which time her home has been in Jonesville.
Together they had planned and built a beautiful home and were to move into it next month, but God has called her to a “Mansion not made with hands, eternal in the Heavens.” Beautiful beyond description were the flowers with which kind friends lovingly adorned her grave. The music was touching and the personal remarks of the pastor , Rev. R. H. BREADY, echoed the feelings of all hearts present. Scores of friends extend sympathy to parents, brother and husband, who must be deprived of her personal loving presence.
