Mrs.  Mary E.  Wolschleger, 83, of Harbor Beach passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008, at the Harbor Beach Hospital.   Mary was born March 14, 1925 in Harbor Beach to the late Henry and Mary (Guitar) Hitsch.   She married Jerome Wolschleger on June 10, 1947 at SS.  Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth.   He preceded her in death on February 19, 1989.  Mary was a homemaker all her life.   She was a parishioner at SS.  Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ruth where she was a member of the Christian Mothers.   Mary enjoyed sewing, making quilts, playing cards and spending time with her family.  She loved to go on sleigh and hay rides with her husband and family. 

 

Mary is survived by her children, Jane Deere and her husband, Earl, of Port Hope; Richard Wolschleger and his wife, Florence, of Ruth; Kenny Wolschleger and his wife, Sue, of Carsonville; Mark Wolschleger and his wife, Dawn, of Harbor Beach; Mary Weiderhold and her husband, Ed, of Elkton; Charlotte Vogel and her husband, Ron, of Palms; Shirley Gore and her husband, Glen, of Three Oaks; Leroy Wolschleger and his wife, Robin, of Minden City; Marlene Peresta and her husband, Jerome, of Sandusky; Raymond Wolschleger and his wife, Connie, of Harbor Beach; Judy Duda and her husband, Stan, of Harbor Beach; Bernie Wolschleger and his wife, Carolyn, of Carsonville; Jerome Wolschleger Jr. and his wife, Sheila, of Cass City; Sue Hessling and her husband, Jim, of Harbor Beach; Mike Wolschleger and his fiancée, Nicole, of Harbor Beach; 36 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren.

Norman W. Wolschleger
May 1, 1928 - December 18, 2006
Norman W.  Wolschleger, 78, of Harbor Beach, passed away Monday, December 18, 2006, at his daughter's home near Ruth under hospice care.    Norman was born May 1, 1928 in Harbor Beach to the late Michael and Anna (Booms) Wolschleger.    He and Dolores Schulte were united in marriage on November 27, 1949.   She preceded him in death on January 13, 1982.   He married Doris Bouverette on May 8, 1999 in Harbor Beach.   Norman was a retired farmer and enjoyed playing cards and was an avid Tiger baseball fan.   He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 11432.    
 
He is survived by his wife, Doris, of Harbor Beach; children: Gary Wolschleger and his wife, Joann, of Harbor Beach; Randal Wolschleger and his wife, Julie, of Palms; Jeffrey Wolschleger and his wife, Gail, of Memphis; and Deborah Bischer and her husband, Alan, of Minden City; three stepchildren, Karen Hamilton, of Florida, Judy Fisher, of Fort Gratiot, and Cheryl Pleiness, of Brighton; 10 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; and seven step-great grandchildren; sister, Marie (Irvin) Kubacki, of Bad Axe; brothers: Albert (Helen) Wolschleger, and Ben (Evangel) Wolschleger, both of Harbor Beach; sister-in-laws: Mary Wolschleger and Gertrude Wolschleger, both of Harbor Beach, Della Wolschleger, of Ruth; Rosemary Wolschleger, of Harbor Beach; brother-in-law, Melvin Ziske, of Lexington.    Norman was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robert Gentner; a sister, Leona Ziske; brothers: Jerome, Leonard, Vincent, Edward, and Dennis Wolschleger.
 
A Funeral Mass for Norman will be at 11:30 a.m.  on Thursday, December 21, 2006, in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church with Fr.  T.J.  Fleming officiating.   Burial will follow in the church cemetery.    Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m.  today in the Ramsey Funeral Home of Harbor Beach and from 10 a.m.  until 11 a.m.  on Thursday at the funeral home.  A parish vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m.  today at the funeral home followed by the Knights of Columbus Rosary at 8 p.m.

Edward M. Wolschleger

November 15, 1921July 23, 2005

Edward M.  Wolschleger, 83, of Charlevoix died Saturday, July 23, 2005, at his daughter's home in Altamonte Springs, Florida.  Ed was born November  15, 1921, in Huron County, the son of Michael and Anna (Booms) Wolschleger, and grew up in Harbor Beach.  He served in the U.S.  Navy during World War II. 

On June 25, 1949, he married Virginia Priemer in Ohio.  They made their home in Port Huron, where he worked for American Cement Company before moving to Charlevoix in 1967.  Ed was General Mill Forman for Medusa Portland Cement Company in Charlevoix retiring in 1984.  He was a member of Saint Mary's Church and VFW Post No. 1153 in Charlevoix.  He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the U.S. Landing Ship Tank (LST) Association, and was a plank owner at the Navy Memorial in Washington D.C. 

 

Ed is survived by his daughter, Lu Ann Beebe and her husband, Mike, of Altamonte Springs, Florida; sons: James E. Wolschleger and his wife, Susan E., of York, Pennsylvania, Michael S. Wolschleger of DePaul, Manitoba; step-daughter, Shirley Milhoan and her husband, Howard, of McCormick, South Carolina; step-son, Larry Tenbush and his wife, Barb, of Port Huron; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.  He also is survived by brothers: Albert Wolschleger and his wife, Helen, Norman Wolschleger and his wife, Doris, Ben Wolschleger and his wife, Vange, all of Harbor Beach; and sister, Marie Kubacki and her husband, Irwin, of Bad Axe. 

Virginia preceded Ed in death on February 24, 2002.  He also was preceded in death by his brothers: Jerome, Leonard, Vincent, Dennis; and sister, Leona Ziskie. 

 

A Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Saturday, July 30, 2005.  The Rev. Denis H. Wolschleger

December 13, 1925March 14, 2004

Denis H. Wolschleger, 78, of Harbor Beach, passed away Sunday evening, March 14, 2004, in Courtney Manor Nursing Center in Bad Axe following a short illness.   Born on December 13, 1925 in Harbor Beach, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Booms) Wolschleger.   Denis and Rosemary Capling were united in marriage on February 15, 1947 in Harbor Beach.   He is a veteran of World War II serving in the Navy.   Denis worked 27 years for Juth Chevrolet of Harbor Beach; he then worked for the Harbor Beach Community Schools from which he retired in 1987.   He was a member of Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach, a life member of the American Legion Post 197 and the VFW Post 9344, of Harbor Beach, where he was a charter member and a past commander, and a life member of the DAV.  

 

Surviving are his wife, Rosemary Wolschleger, of Harbor Beach; children, Gerald Wolschleger and his wife, Deanna, of Ruth, Karen Wilkowski and her husband, David, of Harbor Beach, David Wolschleger and his wife, Sally, of Minden City, and Denise Grates and her husband, David, of Harbor Beach; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Edward Wolschleger, of Charlevoix, Norman Wolschleger and his wife, Doris, of Harbor Beach, Albert Wolschleger and his wife, Helen, of Harbor Beach, Ben Wolschleger and his wife, Vange, of Harbor Beach; sister, Marie Kubacki and her husband, Irvin, of Bad Axe; sisters-in-law, Mary Wolschleger, of Harbor Beach, Gertrude Wolschleger, of Harbor Beach, Della Wolschleger, of Ruth; brother-in-law, Melvin Ziskie, of Lexington.   Denis was preceded in death by three brothers, Jerome, Leonard and Vincent Wolschleger; and sister, Leona Ziskie.  

 

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach with Fr. Jerry Kukla, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A parish vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the Ramsey Funeral Home, Harbor Beach.   Visitation will be from 1 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Wednesday at the church.

Leonard Wolschleger

June 24, 1917March 20, 2003

Leonard Wolschleger, 85, of Harbor Beach passed away Thursday, March 20, 2003, at the Harbor Beach Community Hospital.  Leonard was born on June 24, 1917, in Harbor Beach to the late Michael and Anna (Booms) Wolschleger.  He married Gertrude Mae Mazure on April 22, 1941, at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach.  Leonard completed the eighth grade at East Huron School in Harbor Beach.  He started as a young man working on area farms.  He joined the Civil Conservation Corps camps (C.C.C.).  He worked for the C.C.C.  camps for six months.  He then sailed the Great Lakes for five seasons.  After he left sailing, he returned to Michigan and farming.  He farmed for 31 years.  He was employed also at Huron Milling Co.  in Harbor Beach for nine years, Active Industries, and Searls, from where he retired in 1982.  He was a parishioner and former usher at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church in Harbor Beach.  He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles and watching the Detroit Tigers play baseball. 


Leonard is survived by his wife, Gertrude, of Harbor Beach; five sons and six daughters, Paul Wolschleger and his wife, Diane, of Auburn, Washington, Arlene Szarapski and her husband, Stan, of Cass City, Sharon McCreary and her husband, Bob, of Bay City, Dr.  Joseph Wolschleger and his wife, Janice, of Big Rapids, Robert Wolschleger and his wife, Sandy, of Big Rapids, Linda Booms and her husband, Michael, of Shelby Township, Donald Wolschleger and his wife, Della, of Harbor Beach, Kathy Falsetti and her husband, Bob, of St.  Clair, Dr. Kevin Wolschleger and his wife, Karyn, of Grand Rapids, Anita Mosey and her husband, Steve, of Harbor Beach, Cheryl Shulte and her husband, Gene, of Port Hope; 30 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; five brothers and one sister, Edward Wolschleger of Charlevoix, Albert Wolschleger and his wife, Helen, of Harbor Beach, Denis Wolschleger and his wife, Rosemary, of Harbor Beach, Norman Wolschleger and his wife, Doris, of Harbor Beach, Marie Kubacki and her husband, Irvin, of Bad Axe, Benjamin Wolschleger and his wife, Vange, of Harbor Beach.  Leonard was preceded in death by one son, Brian; two grandchildren, Michael L. Wolschleger and Derek Verscheure; two brothers, Jerome and Vincent; one sister, Leona Zieski; one sister-in-law, Virginia Wolschleger. 


The funeral mass will be at
11:30 a.m.  on Monday, March 24, 2003, at Our Lady of Lake Huron Catholic Church of Harbor Beach.  The Rev.  Steve Fillion, pastor of St.  Pancratius Catholic Church of Cass City will officiate.  Burial will be in the Our Lady of Lake Huron Cemetery in Harbor Beach.  There will be a parish vigil service by Sr.  Eileen Houlihan at 7 p.m.  on Sunday at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home of Ubly. 
Visitation will be from
6:30 to 9:30 p.m.  on Saturday, from 1 to 9:30 p.m.  on Sunday and from 9 to 10 a.m.  on Monday at the funeral home.

Joseph Henry Wolschlager

May 25, 1923 – November 22, 2009 

Mr. Joseph H. Wolschlager, 86, of Ubly, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2009 at St. Mary Hospital in Saginaw.  He was born May 25, 1923 in Bad Axe to the late Charles and Ida (Booms) Wolschlager.

He married Josephine Dybilas October 18, 1947 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Freiburg.  Joseph graduated the Becking Elementary School.  He sailed the Great Lakes for five years.  He farmed for more than 33 years and worked for Lasky Construction for 33 years.  He was a parishioner at St. Columbkille for 55 years.  He was a choir member, former sexton and did maintenance for the church.  He played guitar and fiddle, playing at weddings and such.  He enjoyed playing euchre and 65 cents, hunting deer, fishing, traveling and visiting with family and friends.

 

Joseph is survived by his wife of 62 years, Josephine of Ubly; eight children, Rosemary (Jerry) Stephenson of Flat Rock, Indiana, Theresa (Richard) Hund of Clarkston, Joann (Gary) Osantowski of Madison Heights, Paulette (Jeffrey) Maurer, Clarence (Barbara) Wolschlager, Dennis (Kelly) Wolschlager, and Mark Wolschlager all of Bad Axe, Gary Wolschlager of Ubly; 20 grandchildren, Tina & Tim Stephenson, Tami (Michael) Harbison, Tanya (Matthew) Johnson, Eric Hund, Scott (Sara) Hund, Tracy (Kenny) Smith, Melissa (Scott) MacGregor, Kris Wolschlager, Keith (Kelly) Wolschlager, Pattie (Paul) Box, Paul (Rose) Osantowski, Brian and Kim Osantowski, Matthew (Katie) Maurer, Jessica, Brent, Taylor Wolschlager, Martin and Jill Wolshlager; 11 great-grandchildren, David, Zachary, Nicholas, Ethan, Blake, Dillon, Avery, Evan, Allyson, Colin and Finley; three sisters, Dorothy Guigar, Helen McIntosh, Irma (Nicholas) Schroth; two brothers, John (Mary) Wolschlager, Henry (Delphine) Wolschlager; in-laws, Sara Guigar, Nora Peters, Joseph (Jerri) Dybilas.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Grace Wolschlager; and three brothers, Maurice, Charles and Elmer Wolschlager.

 

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Sheridan Corners. The Rev. Joseph Griffin, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Zinger-Smigielski Funeral Home in Ubly and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church only. There will be a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
