J. N. Trompen Block
The above is a view of the J. N. Trompen block now fast approaching completion. It is located at the corner of Grandville and Wealthy avenues and will be a new home for this successful Clothing and Dry Goods store. The store will occupy the entire first floor and basement. The second floor will be divided into living suites and offices comprising four apartments and two offices. The apartments will have cold and hot water, lavatories, bathrooms and sinks, giving the tenants modern conveniences, and they have access to the roof walk for drying clothes. It will be steam heated and lighted with electric and gas. The building is made of red iron spot brick-faced at the front and hard wood is used for the floors and finishings. The windows are plate glass. A front stairway leads to the upper floors. There are five skylights and an elevator. The offices on the second floor are for the firm's business transactions.
