OFFICIAL NOTICES AND DISCLAIMERS
History and Growth of the Michigan GenWeb Project
In March and April, 1996, a group of genealogists organized the Kentucky
Comprehensive Genealogy Database Project, now known as the
Kentucky
GenWeb Project. The idea was to provide a single entry point for all
counties in Kentucky, where collected databases would be stored. In addition,
the databases would be indexed and cross-linked, so that even if an individual
were found in more than one county, they could be located in the index.
At the same time, volunteers were found who were willing to coordinate
the collection of databases and generally oversee the contents of the web
page. This is an outgrowth of that original Kentucky project.
Adoption and Volunteering
Contact the coordinator
for the appropriate county if you have a desire to add your data to
the database. If the county in which you are interested does not
have a page, or appears to be up for adoption, and you wish to participate, please contact
Jan Cortez, the
Michigan Coordinator, and request the sample web page be sent to you.
The USGenWeb Project policy on HTML code, graphics, etc.
It is the policy of The USGenWeb Project to obtain permission from
the creator of the code, graphics, and backgrounds before using them on
our pages unless they have been placed in the public domain. Images, text
or link compilations should not be incorporated into USGenWeb/MIGenWeb
pages without explicit written permission. The state coordinator has the
responsibility to remove any links to websites which fail to meet The USGenWeb
Project/MIGenWeb Project established guidelines/standards. More information
on the copyright
standards of the USGenWeb project is available on their website. Please
review their guidelines if you have any questions or concerns.
Independent Verification
It is important to note that all of the above genealogical data, whether
part of this page or available through a link from this page, must be researched
and proved or disproved by weight of evidence. We hope that these online
materials have been of help to you but is always best to consult original
primary material for verification.
Non-Commercial Use
All material on these pages is for non-commercial use only. All information
submitted to this project remains -- to the extent the law allows -- the
property of the submitter who, by submitting it, agrees that it may be
freely copied but never sold or used in a commercial venture without the
knowledge and permission of its rightful owner.
