Wilder De Ayr Foster US Congressman. He served in the United States House of Representatives from December 1871 until his death in 1873, as a representative from the state of Michigan. He was elected to fill the vacant House seat following the resignation of U.S. Senator-elect Thomas White Ferry. He was a member of the Michigan State Senate in 1855 and 1856 and served as Mayor of Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1854. He was re-elected to the office of mayor in 1865 and 1866. He also served as Grand Rapid's city treasurer and as a member of the board of aldermen. |
