Simeon LeRoy, M. D. Simeon LeRoy, M. D., of No. 196 East Bridge street, and No. 250 North LaFayette street, Grand Rapids, was born in Wayne county, N. Y., April 5, 1876, a son of Simeon and Jane (Jagt) LeRoy, natives of France, who came to Grand Rapids, when single, about 1861, were here married, and then went to New York, but returned here in 1865, but in 1866 went to New York again, and finally returned to Grand Rapids in 1876, where they have lived ever since, he being known as a merchant, and now reside at No. 250 North LaFayette street. They have had born to them a family of six children, viz: John, a grocer of this city; Katie, who died June 19, 1891, at the age of nineteen years; Anna, Simeon, and Cornelius—the last named being partnership with his father in the wood business. Dr. Simeon LeRoy received his elementary education in the public schools of Grand Rapids, and this was supplemented by an attendance at Welton’s Business college. He studied medicine at Saginaw, Mich., and graduated from the Grand Rapids Medical college in 1898. For a time after graduating he served as surgeon of the Union Benevolent Association hospital, and then, early in the present year, engaged in general practice, and may, when not out upon professional business, be always found at either one or the other of his offices. The doctor is examining physician for the M. W. of A.,. for the A. O. U. W., D. of H. and I. O. O. F., in all of which he is a member, and has already laid the foundation for a lucrative list of patients and a remunerative general practice in medicine and surgery in the near future. The doctor’s religious relations are with the Fountain street Baptist church, and his political views he is republican. |
