We cordially unite in the effort to organise the Boys in Blue, for the purpose of maintaining the principles at the ballot-box, for which we fought in the field. We believe "in justice to our friends, before magnanimity to our foes; in forgiveness to traitors who fought against the old flag, when they forgive patriots who fought for it." And we believe no true soldier or sailor can intelligently and honestly prefer political alliance with avowed traitors and their friends, to co-operation with his comrades and those who sustained, encouraged and sympathized with him when he was confronting treason in arms. We cannot cast our lot with gray backs North or South; even if the shade is a little lighter North than South of Mason and Dixon’s line. They are the enemies of the cause of freedom and free institutions.--Some fought us in thee field with bullets; some at home with ballots; and the latter never lost an opportunity to revile us in the field, to taunt us with being negro wershippers, and the hirelings of "an ape, a baboon, and a tyrant," and to threaten us with a "fire in the fear." Such friendship is the friendship of the "wolf for the lamb," whom it seeks to devour.--We resent the insult and we spurn their company. The same men revile us now, and try io discourage and defeat our organization. We will endure these taunts, and jiles, and sneers as long as forbearance shall be virtue, but we are not so ignorant as not to know all classes and shadow of serpents and vipors, nor so base as not to despise them. Once more let us all rally around the old flag, the emblem of a Nation, redeemed and free.

We invite all soldiers and sailors to meet at Luce’s Hall on Wednesday evening next, for the purpose of completing the organization of the Boys in Blue, and discussing the object of the organization, and the work to be accomplished.
