The Tenth Michigan Infantry was organized at Flint, Michigan, November 20, 1861, leaving the state with 997 officers and men on the rolls on Apri22, 1862 in command of Colonel Lum? And upon reaching Pittsburg Landing, Mississippi, reported to General Halleck on April 28 and was assigned to the second brigade of General Pope’s division, right wing, army of the Mississippi, then stationed at Farmington in front of Corinth.

From May 8 until the 26^th it was engaged in making reconnoissances and in skirmishing with the enemy, then holding a position at Corinth and afterwards participated in twenty-nine engagements closing a noble service at Bentonville, NC, March 20, 1865. The command was discharged at Jackson, August 1, 1865.
