In Memoriam, March, 1941

Frank L. Billings-A general agent for the Crown Life Insurance Co., and a former local furniture manufacturer, passed away Tuesday, February 18, at his resident, 333 Morris Ave., S.E., after suffering a stroke. He was 60 years old.

A native of La Porte, Ind., Mr. Billings came to Grand Rapids in 1915. For a number of years he was traveling representative for several Midwestern furniture firms with headquarters here. In 1926 he founded the Wood Batik Company here.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Josephine Billings; two daughters, Mrs. David H. Harris of Grand Rapids, and Miss Elma Billings of Los Angeles; a granddaughter, Nancy Harris; a brother, Fred H. Billings of Los Angeles, and a sister, Mrs. Edward K. Hyde of Buffalo.

Besides his Peninsular Club affiliation, Mr. Billings was a member of the Muskegon Country Club. Following services Friday afternoon, February 21, at Metcalf Mortuary, the body was removed to Detroit for cremation.

Several Peninsular Club members were among the honorary pallbearers which included Leon T. Closterhouse, George Findlater, Alfred Plumb, Alan D. Swain, Dr. Ferris Smith, Dr. Mortimer E. Roberts, Dr. Simeon Le Roy, Charles R. Lively, L.T. Herman, Earl F. Phelps, Adrian Otte, Carl Duval and Frank Hamilton, all of Grand Rapids, and E.J.. Brown of Toronto, Ont.
