1/1944 - Wallace E. Brown

Death removed one of the most prominent and loyal members of the club on Saturday, Dec. 4, when Wallace E. Brown, president of the Grand Rapids Varnish corporation, and a director of the club for many years, succumbed at his residence, 415 Cambridge blvd., S.E.

Mr. Brown took a personal interest in club affairs and gave generously of his time and abilities to help make the club an institution of which the membership would be proud.

He was a regular patron of the billiard room at the club and brought several nationally and internationally famous players to Grand Rapids to play at the club. He was recognized as an expert at the game in his own right.

Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Lucille Brown; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret M. North, two sons, Fred and Harry, and two grandsons, Pfc. Robert North and Jerome North.
