Albert E. Damskey
 

7 November 1918 - Albert S. Damskey, prominent Polish citizen and well known insurance man, died at his home, 656 Fourth street, N. W., Wednesday night. Death was caused by heart failure.
Mr. Damskey was the first member to oranize the building committee of St. Adalbert's church. This building is a monument to his untiring effort. He also was the first charter member of the C. M. B. A.; a member of the Elks, Germania, Arbiter, and several Polish societies. He had served as alderman from the old First ward until a few years before his death and took an active interest in politics.
Born in Posen, 22 April 1846, he came to Grand Rapids at the age of 16 years. He served through the civil war as a private.
Surviving are the widow, four sons and two daughters, George J. and Edward J. of Tucson, Aris.; T. C. of Goldfield, Nev.; Louis P. of Oakland, Cal.; Mrs. L. J. Hoffer of Grand Rapids and Mrs. E. V. Andrews of Toledo, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Frances Fennis of Westphalia, Mich. and two brothers, F. S. Damskey of Grand Rapids, and Anthony of Mandan, N. D., besides four grandchildren, Raymond A. Hoffer with the expeditionary forces in France, Madeline L., George E. Hoffer and Louis Damskey, Jr.
