ANOTHER PIONEER DIES – John Hesselink
(Grandville Ave. Record, August 30, 1918 – Pg. 1)
In the death of John Hesselink, a prominent figure on the Avenue, and who was always a welcome man to meet, this district loses another pioneer.
Mr. Hesselink came here with his family from the Netherlands 30 years ago and settled in the home where he spent his last days, on Ten Haaf court.
He was not sick long. Hardening of the arteries and old age were the causes of his death. He was 85 years old.
He leaves a widow, 76 years old; ten daughters and one son, G. J. Hesselink.
Funeral services were held Monday from his late home, Rev. C. Nettinga officiating. Burial in Grandville.
The family takes this opportunity to return thanks for all kindnesses shown.
