COUNTY PROBATION OFFICER IS DEAD
J. Edward Hyde had Served in Position Since 1904.

LIVED HERE 64 YEARS

J. Edward Hyde, 64, probation officer of Kent County for 22 years, died Tuesday afternoon at his home, 1104 Tamarack av., N.W. He had been ill for more than a month with pernicious anemia.

Mr. Hyde first became probation officer in 1904, attached to the court of Circuit Judge Willis B. Perkins. After two years the position was changed to include all the courts. He was deputy when A. A. Carroll, superintendent of police, was sheriff of Kent County. He had been a resident of Grand Rapids all his life.

Mr. Hyde was a member of Valley City lodge, F. & A. M. and of Grand Rapids chapter, R. A. M., the council consistory and shrine, and also of Kent camp, Modern Woodmen.

He leaves the widow and three daughters, Mrs. Harold Whalley and Mrs. George Hunt of Grand Rapids and Mrs. Edward Lederer of Chicago and one son, William G. Hyde of San Francisco.

Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Saturday at Masonic Temple. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
