LAMMERS, Mrs. Johanna (Two obituaries)
Early Resident of West Side Lived Here 57 Years, Age 89
Mrs. Johanna Lammers, widow of John Lammers, one of the early residents
in Grand Rapids, died Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John G.
Jongejan, 621 Stanley Terrace, S.E. Mrs. Lammers come to Grand Rapids from The
Netherlands 57 years go, and except for the last two years, when she had resided
with her daughter, was a west side resident. Besides Mrs. Jongejan, she
leaves three daughters: Mrs. Harry Lampen, Mrs. Charles Miedema and Mrs. Peter
Gravedine of Grand Rapids, and one son, Harry, of Sacramento, 15 grand-children,
23 great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Funeral services
will be held Saturday afternoon from the residence. Burial in Greenwood
cemetery. Her age was 89 years.

PIONEER LEAVES FOUR GENERATIONS
Mrs. Johannette Lammers Dies at Age of 89 Years
Four generation of descendants survive Mrs. Johannette Lammers, resident of
Grand Rapids for more than a half century, who died at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. John C. Jongejan, 621 Stanley ter. Wednesday morning after a long
illness. Besides her four children Mrs. Lammers leaves 15 grandchildren 23
great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Lammers was 89 years
old and the widow of John Lammers. She came to Grand Rapids from the
Netherlands 57 years ago and was a pioneer resident of the west side. For the
past two years, however, she had resided with her daughter on the east side.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at the residence of Mrs.
Jongejan. Besides Mrs. Jongejan the surviving children are the daughters
Mrs. Henry Lampen, Mrs. Charles Miedema, and Mrs. Peter Gravelyn, all of Grand
Rapids, and a son Harry Lammers of Sacramento, Calif.

LAMPEN, Mrs. Helena (Lammers) Lampen, aged 69 years died Friday afternoon at
her residence, 2432 Alpine ave., NW. She is survived by her husband, Henry, and
three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Miedema and Mrs. Marie Jongejan of this city and Mrs.
Maggie Gravelyn of Caledonia, two sons, Harry of Grand Rapids and John of
Washington, D. C., four daughters Mrs. Bea Hamelink and Mrs. Fred Brown of this
city, Mrs. Edward Fay of Jenison and Mrs. Lee Broggan of Detroit, twelve
grandchildren and four Great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday
at 2 p. m. at the residence. Burial in Greenwood cemetery.

MIEDEMA -- Mrs Minnie (Lammers) Miedema, aged 83, passed away at the
Holland home Tuesday morning. Surviving are the husband, Chester Miedema; a
stepson, Peter Miedema; two stepdaughters, Mrs. John B. Peterson and Mrs. Jacob
Proos; fifteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs.
Peter Gravelyn and Mrs. J. C. Jongejan. Funeral services will be held Friday at
2 o’clock at the Holland home. Burial Greenwood cemetery. The body will repose
at the Van’t Hof Funeral Home until Friday noon.

ZEEDYKE, Cornelius - Husband of Grietje (Lammers) Zeedyke
Cornelius Zeedyk, 73 years old, a Grand Rapids resident for 60 years, died
Monday morning at Butterworth Hospital. Mr. Zeedyk was a charter member of the
H. O. H., and had been in the employe of the board of public works for over 20
years. Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Della Morgan of Los Angeles. Funeral
Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 at the home of his sister-in-law, Mrs. Margaret
DeYoung, 1108 Front avenue, N. W. Interment in Oak Hill cemetery.

LAMMERS -- Harry W. Lammers, aged 76, passed away Thursday morning. He
is survived by one son, John; one daughter, Mrs. Warren Thompson; three sisters,
five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. His body reposes at the Alt
Mortuary, where services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30.
Interment in Greenwood cemetery.

THOMPSON, Mrs. Mina L. (Lammers) Thompson, aged 84, of Shore Haven
Nursing Home, Grand Haven, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away Friday night at
Ottawa Community Hospital. Surviving are two sons, Harry W. Koning of
Wyoming, Orrin J. Koning of Hastings; two grandchildren, Mrs. Charles (Karen)
VanKuiken of Grand Rapids, Miss Denise Koning of Hastings; two
step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Thompson reposes at
the Sullivan Funeral Home, where services will be held Monday afternoon at 1:30.
Rev. William Herold officiating. Interment Restlawn Memorial Park. Visiting
Hours at the funeral home will be Saturday from 7 to 9 and Sunday from 2 to 4
and 7 to 9 p.m.

Arrie Koning, husband of Mina (Lammers) Koning
KONING, Arrie Koning 31 years old, died Monday morning at St. Mary’s hospital. He is survived by his widow, parents, two children and the brother. Funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Thursday, at the residence, 1232 Alpine avenue N. W. Interment in Washington Park cemetery.

THOMPSON, W. D. Thompson Is Dead at 56 - A Marine Corps veteran of World
War I, Warren D. Thompson, of 146 Gold Ave., SW. died Friday afternoon in
Michigan Veterans Facility following a long illness. He was 56. Mr.
Thompson was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife, Mina; two brothers, Floyd and Clayton of Grand
Rapids; a sister, Mrs. Axel Hanson of Cleveland; two stepsons, Harry W. and
Orrin J. Koning, and a granddaughter.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Alt Mortuary Chapel.

THOMPSON – Warren D. Thompson, aged 56, of 146 Gold Ave., SW., passed away Friday afternoon at the Veterans Facility Hospital. The deceased was a World War I veteran, having served in the Marine Corps. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mina Thompson; two brothers, Floyd and Clayton Thompson of Grand Rapids; a sister, Mrs. Axel Hansen of Cleveland; two step-sons Harry W. and Orrin J. Koning and a granddaughter. Mr. Thompson reposes at the Alt Mortuary, where funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock.

JACOB LAMMERS CAME HOME TO DIE
LAMMERS, Jacob - Had Tuberculosis and Had No Hope
When Jacob Lammers, aged nineteen years, returned home two months ago from Cuba,
where he had performed service in the Navy, he did so to die.
The young man was a victim of tuberculosis, dying yesterday at the home of his
parents, 531 Turner street. Private funeral services will be held at the house
Thursday afternoon.

Died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 1972, Mrs. Mae Lammers, formerly of 30 Valley St.
Survived by her son, Robert Lammers; two grandsons, Paul and Donald Lammers.
No prior calling hours. Mass of the Resurrection on Thursday morning at 9:30
o’clock at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Interment at the convenience of the family.

GRAVELYN – Mrs. Margaret (Lammers) DeYoung Gravelyn aged 76 of 827 Crosby st., N.W., passed away Sunday evening. Surviving are her husband, Peter Gravelyn, two sons, John and Herbert DeYoung, three daughters, Mrs. John Heemstra, Mrs. Axel Rickson and Mrs. Herbert Gage; a sister, Mrs. John C. Jongejan, eight grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will beheld Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Van’t Hof Funeral Home. Burial Fulton Street cemetery. The body reposes at the chapel.
