3/1945 - Charles McPherson

Death of Charles McPherson, 71, prominent Grand Rapids attorney for many years,

removed from the club roster one of its veteran members, a loss which was keenly

felt among his many friends and acquaintances in the club.

Mr. McPherson died Tuesday morning, Feb. 8, at Blodgett hospital shortly after

suffering a heart attack. He had been in his office the previous day. He was a member

of the legal firm of McPherson, Harrington, Waer & Carey.

A native of Marshall, he was graduated from Albion college and came to Grand

Rapids to study law in the office of the late Mark Norris in the firm of Crane, Norris

& Stevens. At the turn of the Century he went to Detroit to become general counsel for

the Pere Nmarquettte railroad. He returned to Grand Rapids in 1910 to become a

partner of Mr.Norris in the firm of Norris & McPherson, which enjoyed a wide practice

in corporation law.

He was a member of the local, state and national bar association. He is survived by

the widow, a brother, William of Detroit, and a sister, Belle of Marshall. Burial was

in Oak Hill cemetery following services in the Metcalf chapel.
