Obituary of Leonard Van Ysseldyke

Leonard VanYsseldyke, a West Leonard street shoe merchant, late yesterday afternoon fell to the sidewalk in front of his home, 1229 Turner avenue, and died three hours twenty years had been a victim of extreme headaches. It is believed a blood clot formed on the brain, although he did not complain of a headache yesterday and apparently was in good health.

Mr. Ysseldyke was returning to his home from the store at 57 (old) West Leonard street, when he was stricken. Members of his family carried him into the house and Dr. A. J. Baker attended him. He was fifty-five years old and had resided in the home on Turner avenue about thirty years. He was widely known in west side business circles.

Besides the widow he leave his mother, Mrs. Jennie VanYsseldyke, and three children, Martin, William and Angeline. Other relatives are William and Frank Van Ysseldyke, brothers, and Mrs. Mary Kunst, Mrs. Maggie Vander Mate and Mrs. Minnie Courthouse, sisters, and all of whom reside in Grand Rapids.
