Funeral of A. B. Wykes

Lowell Citizen Had Been Resident of Kent County Since 1857
Arthur B. Wykes, pioneer Kent county resident, died Wednesday at his home
near Lowell, where he had lived 11 years. He had been a resident of the county
since 1857.
He was born 30 Aug 1836 in Northamptonshire, England. At the age of 9 years he
came to America with his parents and settled at Elyria, Ohio , where he resided
until 1857, when he came to Grand Rapids.
He was in the retail meat business at 109 Monroe avenue for more than 30 years.
He is survived by four children, Arthur J. Wykes of Detroit, Mrs. Clarence A.
Cotton of Providence, R. I., and Mrs. Mary W. Brown and Jay C. Wykes of Lowell,
and three brothers, William, Richard and George Wykes of Grand Rapids.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at the residence with burial at Oak Hill
Cemetery.
