Prentiss Weaver, son of Sebia and Dora (Sesson) Weaver was born in Tolland, Connecticut, 16 Mar 1825. His father purchased a farm in Genesee County, NY when he was three years old, where he remained until twenty-two years old. In the fall of 1847 he located 80 acres of land in this township in section 34. He left Byron in 1848 but returned to Byron the fall of 1849.

He was married 11 Apr 1849 in Genesee County to Mary Vickery, daughter of William and Catharine (Willis) Vickery. She was born in Darien, Genesee County, NY. Their three children were born in this township: Linas, 22 Sep 1852; Dora C., 7 Feb 1859 and William Frank, 11 Jun 1860. His entire land was covered with the unbroken forest. He paid $65 for 80 acres and bought a pair of three-year old steers.

He cleared a place for a log house. He owned in this township 520 acres, with 200 under tillage; in section 6 he owned ten acres near the fair grounds, in the vicinity of Grand Rapids and 5 acres in section 1, Wyoming; also 120 acres in Newaygo County. His wife died 7 Sep 1861 and a few years later he married Roxy, widow of Fayette Len Lam. Mr. Weaver and his brother each sent proxies to the country’s service during the Rebellion, though neither was drafted.
