Michigan State Home for the Feeble-Minded and Epileptic

The Michigan State Home for the Feeble-Minded and Epileptic opened in 1895. It went through several name changes before closing in 1990, including the Michigan Home and Training School, the Lapeer State Home and Training School and the Oakdale Regional Center for Developmental Disabilities. It was locally known as the State Home. The location was a half mile west of Lapeer city.
