BONES OF A GIANT.

Indian Mound Opened Near Dryden and Prehistoric Relics Are Discovered.

Dryden. Nov. 9.–Dr. C. M. Braidwood and J. Merritt Lamb are making investigations of prehistoric or Indian mounds in this neighborhood. Recently, in a mound southwest of the village, they discovered the skeleton of a man of gigantic proportions. The skull, though large, indicated a low order of intelligence, the bones being very thick and the forehead slanting. The mound was about 30 feet long and half as wide, the earth being piled up about four feet high. There are several similar mounds in this vicinity, and in some places are still found the marks of former Indian cornfields—pits dug in rows in the woods. Other explorations will be made by Dr. Braidwood.
